We have seen how George Weah, a trained footballer that his mates were thinking more on becoming football coaches did it, before him we have seen how Emmanuel Macron, a more thirty year-younger leader that assumed leadership with mission and vision did it. Not to talk of Theresa May who is a but a master in leadership. Buhari was in the opposition side for at least 12 years, and it is obvious he was there not for Nigeria; rather, he was there to continue from where the throne was seized from him in 1984. He just wanted to rule by all means, to the extent that he will always cry when he lost election.
Goodluck Jonathan failure on security was the major reason why Buhari succeed in his quest for power. Many of our generation thought he is for Nigeria and for the masses. We did ignore what a party of the elders among us was telling us about how inhumane he was. We just thought that they were part of those rich people that he made poor, we were only jealous of people wealthier than us thinking they are all thieves. We were so eager to the “Thieveside” as he was popularly called takes control. We also thought when he is back, he will make people like Dangote, Dantata, Adenuga and their likes as poor as we are.
In the end, we did realize that he is there to make the rich richer, and the poor poorer. He just doesn’t know how to lead. He was only a handworker then, yet a dull, thus, he was not in control, General Tunde Idiagbon was. Today he comes of age, he is weak and dull. He could not do what Macron, May and Weah did. Unlike him that appointed brain-deads and very old sick and weak people after a period of six month after being sworn in, they appointed active and vibrant ministers immediately they were sworn in. He doesn’t want anything new, he could not think of anything contemporary, that is why he appointed ambassadors as old as 82-year old people, that is why he gave positions to very old people that before his slow and snail-like government could announce it many have died.
He used to say Nigerians should be patient, but recently called us bunch of impatiens. Who know what he is gonna called come 2019? None of us might love him as his wife does, yet we aren’t ashamed of ourselves calling her names whenever she tells the truth. When Obasanjo was bashing Jonathan and later the members of the National Assembly, he was but an angel. But today he is no more than a devil for doing same on saint PMB. I wonder what a people we are! I wonder what a country Nigeria is!! Irest my case for now.
